INTRODUCTION:
This website is a new development for a Society formed more than 50 years ago. The Society first exhibited a 16 mm to one foot scale model railway, at the 1962 Model Railway Club exhibition, constructed by David Newham, Tony Jenkins & Roger Marsh.
Over the intervening years the Society has seen fluctuations of activities and numbers of members. The light-hearted spirit has never failed where the sense of fun and whimsy often overrides more serious concerns. The Society now comprises a small informal group of modellers with meetings on Friday evenings at various venues in the Home Counties, north west of London. Visitors seriously interested in the modelling of predominantly Welsh narrow gauge will be most welcome. Do contact us for details of the next venue. A small charge may be made to cover refreshments. [go to: "Contact Us" ].
The website intends to reprint edited extracts from early editions of the "Merioneth Mercury", that famous magazine produced between February 1975 and the February of 2001 . New reprints should appear at about 3 months intervals. If you would like to see a particular article reproduced then do contact us. There is no guarantee that copy will be available but we will do our best.
Our "Gallery" will show a selection of photographs. The "Drawings Register" will list scale drawings prepared and compiled by Society members. The smaller drawings at A3 or A4 size are freely available for you to download for personal use only. Larger drawings will be available as prints dispatched by post at cost of printing, p & p. If it is necessary to research the Society archive in response to a particular request, a nominal fee will be charged to cover the Society's expenses.
Also under "Gallery" you will find a sub-page: "Quiz time" - this is just a bit of fun that you might enjoy. There are no prizes and answers will be cobbled together by the next website update.
You will also find a button "Technical" that won't be too technical! We will cover such interesting topics as scales, gauges, couplings and their heights, etc., etc. - all that stuff you did not have the foresight to ask someone before! If you think of any further information that might be included under this heading then do let us know.
