Mad Hatter's Tea Party - 3rd August 2014
An excellent day out commencing with coffee and
biscuits at the LBR cafe “Dobbers”. We travelled in style in our
reserved coach No. 8 on the 10-40 departure behind No. 11 “P.C.Allen” 0-4-0WT
Orenstein & Koppel AG No. 5834 of 1913, ex-Solvay Alkali Works, Spain with
a special headboard for us.
We, Graham, Stuart, Jonathan, Dave, Edward & Geoff stayed over at Stonehenge Works to view the collection including the WW1 40HP Simplexes, “Nutty” and the general collection of wagons and diesel locomotives, said to be the largest collection of internal combustion engines in England.
Travel back was on the 12-20 returning us to Pages Park and “Dobbers” for an excellent lunch spread out for us. Too much in fact, so the untouched food was packaged up and taken with us to Graham’s – enough to feed him for a week, we heard!
The afternoon was hot and sunny giving excellent running on Graham’s many lines. It was nice that Raif joined us for the afternoon session.
Our thanks to Graham for his kind hospitality helping to make this, our first Mad Hatter’s tea party for many years a great success.
